Russia Assists the Republic of Serbia Against Covid-19

The Russian Defence Minister has given instructions to create an air group for the prompt delivery of assistance to Serbia in its fight against the spread of Covid-19.

General of the Army Sergei Shoigu has ordered to create an aviation group for operational delivery of Russian military specialists to support the Republic of Serbia in its fight against coronavirus. The first Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces with military specialists and equipment on board took off from the Chkalovsky military airfield to the Republic of Serbia today. The aircraft will deliver an advanced group of military doctors, specialists in the field of virology and epidemiology with modern equipment for epidemiological diagnostics and disinfection actions to the Batajnica airfield.

This comes in a series of similar initiatives by the Russian Federation to send aid to countries fighting the pandemic; aid has already been delivered to Italy and the United States. The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has exceeded 1 million world wide, with more than 4,000 patients in Russia.
