Construction of service center for Russian helicopter commenced in Azerbaijan

An official ceremony of launching the construction of the future service center, including the embedding of a memory capsule with signatures of the project participants, was held in Baku. Director General of Rostec’s Russian Helicopters company Andrey Boginsky and representatives of the Helicopter Service Center company that will provide after-sales servicing of Russian helicopters operated in the Republic of Azerbaijan took part in the ceremony.

“A very important step towards establishing a state-of-the-art service center in Azerbaijan has been taken today. The center will be able to provide comprehensive technical support to the operators in this country and ensure a high level of airworthiness of the Russian Mi helicopters. This work is being carried out as part of Rostec’s aviation cluster strategy, which provides for expansion of the service center network in the regions where Rostec is present, as well as integrated support of the delivered helicopters throughout their entire life cycle,” – Andrey Boginsky noted.

The Russian and Azerbaijani parties have previously signed an agreement, according to which a 25-percent share of the Helicopter Service Center ownership will be transferred to the holding; the respective agreement is slated for signing in Q1 2020. The agreement also lays down that technology will be transferred enabling the Helicopter Service Center to provide services for maintenance and repair of Russian- and Soviet-made helicopters.
