Russia and China to Hold Joint Drills in August

Russia and China are going to conduct joint military drills as part of the ZAPAD/INTERACTION-2021 to be held in China in early and mid-August. Senior Colonel Wu Qian, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defence announced the Chinese-Russian joint drills at a regular press conference of the MND on Thursday.

The Ministry of National Defence of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation jointly announced that according to the consensus reached between China and Russia, the armed forces of the Russian Federation will participate in the "Western· Interaction-2021" exercise held in China in early to mid-August.

According to the exercise plan, the exercise site is the Bronze Gorge Contract Tactical Training Base of the Army of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China, and the theme is to jointly maintain regional security and stability. China and Russia will establish a joint command.

The Chinese participating troops will mainly take place in the western theater, and the Russian Federation's armed forces will mainly take the eastern military region. The two sides will send more than 10,000 troops to invest in a variety of aircraft, artillery and armored equipment, mixed formation, joint accounting planning, and joint training with Taiwan to jointly test and improve the joint investigation and early warning of the force. Electronic information attack, joint crackdown and suppression capabilities, etc.

The purpose of this exercise is to consolidate and develop the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Russia in a new era, deepen the pragmatic cooperation and traditional friendship between the two militaries, and further demonstrate the determination and ability of the two sides to combat their forces in terrorism and jointly maintain regional peace and security.
