Covid-19 lockdown has lead Lockheed Martin to announce on Wednesday new measures to cushion the effects of the pandemic on the F-35 programme.
This announcement came shortly after declaring that meeting the 141 aircraft target planned for 2020 was not possible. The slow down came as a result of subcontractor parts delays stemming from the coronavirus pandemic.
‘These are challenging times, but managing tough challenges is when the F-35 programme performs at its best,’ said Lockheed Martin Aeronautics executive vice-president Michele Evans.
In order to avert layoffs, employees will be divided into teams that will work in shifts; a proactive measure to help employees keep their jobs.
