A Second Il-114-300 Prototype will Join Trials in 2021

A second Il-114-300 prototype will join trials in 2021, said the press service of Rostec. On December 16, the first prototype Il-114-300 took off for the first time. The first flight kicked off the start of flight and certification tests. It is on this sample that innovative solutions will be tested, which are implemented in the new aircraft. A new engine, new avionics, new systems, and equipment, most of which were developed specifically for the Il-114-300 and are being put into production for the first time.

Already the first prototype of the Il-114-300 is equipped with the latest version of the TV7-117ST-01 turboprop engines, which have a takeoff power of up to 3100 hp. The power plant, together with the engine, includes a new high-thrust AV-112-114 propeller and a new automatic control system using a combined modernized engine control unit and a BARK-65SM propeller. Such joint control makes it possible to maximize the potential of the characteristics of the engine and propeller, and in general to increase the efficiency of the power plant.

The innovative systems and units also include the upgraded auxiliary power unit TA14-114, the fire protection system, the air conditioning system, which was created with the wide use of domestic composite materials, the pressure control system that increases the comfort of passengers, the power supply system, including a new cable network based on lightweight types of wires and connectors that provide weight savings.

The aircraft is also equipped with a TsPNK-114M2 digital flight and navigation system, automatic radio beacons, systems for collecting flight information and recording sound and voice information. When finishing heat and sound insulation, the highest quality domestic materials were used, and the cockpit was made taking into account modern ergonomics standards and equipped with new emergency equipment.

In parallel with the start of flight tests of the first prototype at the production site of the United Aircraft Corporation of the State Corporation Rostec in Lukhovitsy, a second prototype Il-114-300 aircraft is being built, created using serial technologies, which will receive an updated airframe.

Like other modern passenger aircraft, the Il-114-300 will be produced using stackless assembly technologies. The technology provides a reduction in production preparation costs, high precision of work. Correction of the position of units and components of the airframe is carried out using automation with an accuracy of one hundredth of a millimeter. At the moment, the docking of the airframe is being completed at the automated assembly stand. At the next stage, the docking of the tail unit and the wing will take place.

The Il-114-300 is a new domestic passenger aircraft, a product of broad cooperation between Rostec enterprises: turboprop engines were created by the St. Petersburg UEC-Klimov, the newest digital flight and navigation kit was developed by the KRET enterprise. The aircraft was developed and manufactured by the UAC enterprises. The aircraft was developed by the Ilyushin Design Bureau. The Ulyanovsk "Aviastar-SP" manufactures fuselage panels, doors, hatches; fuselage compartments are being assembled at the Sokol aircraft plant in Nizhny Novgorod; the Voronezh enterprise VASO is responsible for the wing, tail unit and engine nacelle, and the Lukhovitsk aircraft plant named after P.A. Voronina is engaged in the final assembly of the aircraft.

The Il-114-300, which implements the most modern domestic technologies, is an example of the joint work of Russian industrial enterprises to create a high-quality, safe and comfortable aircraft that is fully suitable for Russian operating conditions.
