Serviceability of Training Aircrafts Rises to 90%

During a teleconference between the the National Centre for State Defence Control of the Russian Federation and the leadership of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu gave an update on the issue of the serviceability of training aircraft of the Aerospace Forces.

The Minister of Defence stated that a lot of serious work was being done to improve the serviceability of training aircrafts and helicopters. According to him, the total number of aircrafts that could be operated by the troops in September 2019 was around 50% of the total number of training aircrafts, but the figures rose to almost 90%.

"This number will allow us to provide high-quality training of cadets-pilots this year," the head of the military Department said.

Another topic of discussion during that teleconference was the ongoing work on the modernisation of the Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers, as well as the resumption of production of Tu-160 aircraft.

The head of the military Department said that JSC "Tupolev" together with industrial enterprises were working on solving the problem of extending the service life and improving the efficiency of aircraft avionics. At the same time, the Kazan aviation plant is working to restore production of new Tu-160 aircraft and manufacture their installation batch.
