Soyuz MS-17 to ISS in October

The Russian State Space Corporation ROSCOSMOS has announced that a new expedition to the International Space Station (ISS) will be launched in October 2020 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on the Soyuz MS-17 crewed spacecraft.

"The ISS-64 long term expedition prime crew includes Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and astronaut Kathleen Rubins. Backup – Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky, Pyotr Dubrov and NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hei," said ROSCOSMOS in a release.

Currently, both the prime and backup crews are completing their training at Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre (GCTC) and will fly to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in the end of this September.

The end of 2021 will witness sending two space tourists to the ISS, the names of ‘space travellers’ will be disclosed in the beginning of next year.

The Corporation said that negotiations were underway with a number of other American companies to send space tourists to the ISS.
