Russian-French Military Cooperation

The Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu and the French Defence Minister Florence Parly discussed measures to counter the spread of COVID-2019 coronavirus, bilateral military cooperation, and arms control.

The Russian Ministry of Defence announced that in a phone call on May 14, the two Ministers discussed the situation in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. They also checked the "clock" for the implementation of the agreements reached during the Moscow meeting in the "2+2" format in September last year.

The Russian Defence Minister proposed organising the work of the Russian-French interdepartmental expert groups on security issues by the end of this year, plan an exchange of students for the development of relations in the field of military education, as well as to provide for the visit of a French Navy ship to one of the ports of the Russian Federation and send a Russian Navy ship to a port of the French Republic.

Shoigu confirmed the invitation of French specialists to take part in the international military-technical forum "Army-2020" and the "International Army Games" in August-September 2020.
