HSTDV Hypersonic Vehicle Successfuly Tested by India

7 September witnessed the launch of the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Launch Complex at Wheeler Island off the cost of Odisha today. The vehicle is developed in India under the "Made-In-India" initiative.

This launched vehicle, which is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is expected to power futuristic long-range missile systems and aerial platforms, according to officials quoted by India's NDTV.

"I congratulate to DRDO on this landmark achievement towards realising PM’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. I spoke to the scientists associated with the project and congratulated them on this great achievement. India is proud of them [...] all critical technologies are now established to progress to the next phase," said the Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh today.

The HSTDV is an unmanned scramjet demonstration aircraft for hypersonic speed flight, it will fly up to Mach 6.5
