"The new Su-30SM aircraft arrived at the Karaganda air base named after the hero of the Soviet Union Nurken Abdirov," said the Ministry in a statement on 7 November.

Earlier it was reported by the Kazakh TV channel "Khabar 24", that Kazakhstan received an additional batch of Su-30SM. The report on the exercises at the 604th aviation base of the Air Defence Forces of Kazakhstan in Taldy-Kurgan showed Su-30SM fighters, which are part of this base and have not previously been demonstrated publicly.

The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that the multifunctional Su-30SM fighters are being supplied to the country's Air Force under an agreement with the Russian Federation and the programme for rearmament of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.

“The Su-30SM aircraft will significantly increase the capabilities of covering troops and objects from air attacks, detecting and destroying air and ground targets. Thanks to them, the combat potential of the Armed Forces will increase,” noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Defence Forces, Lieutenant General of Aviation Nurlan Ormanbetov.

The deliveries of aircraft from the Irkutsk Aviation Plant began back in 2015. Today many aviation bases of the Republic of Kazakhstan are already equipped with them.

The flight and engineering staff of the Karaganda aviation base underwent a complete retraining in Taldykorgan and at the manufacturing plant. They received the appropriate approvals for piloting, operating and maintaining aircraft of this type.
