Tunisian-American Naval Exercise

The Tunisian navy and U.S. navy special forces carried out a naval exercise off the coast of Tunisia between 18-21 January 2021. This exercise comes as part of the Tunisian-American Military Cooperation, the Tunisian Ministry of Defence said on Thursday.

"Within the framework of the Tunisian-American military cooperation, during the period from January 18 to 21, 2021, the joint Tunisian-American naval exercise “NADHOR 21-01 was carried out off the Tunisian coast," the Tunisian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

Tunisia’s Hannon offshore patrol vessel and La Galite missile patrol vessel the American Military Sealift Command Spearhead-class Expeditionary Fast Transport USNS Trenton (T-EPF 5) took part in this exercise, according to U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Public Affairs.

"The series of naval exercises with the Tunisian Navy focused on developing both nations’ ability to conduct maritime security operations in the Mediterranean, further enhancing cooperation between U.S. and Tunisian forces in support of shared security goals," said the U.S. Sixth Fleet.

"It is important to work alongside our partners in the Mediterranean to improve our interoperability and teamwork," said Capt. Frank Okata, Commodore Military Sealift Command Europe and Africa and Commander, Task Force 63. "Conducting training exercises together with countries like Tunisia contributes to a more secure and stable region."
