The Joint Russian-Algerian Exercise has kicked off in North Ossetia and they will continue until 12 October. 80 servicemen from the Republic of Algeria arrived in North Ossetia on 1 Octoberr to participate in an international exercise.
.Around 80 servicemen of the motorized rifle formations of the Southern Military District, stationed in the North Caucasus, and about 80 servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic are participating in the exercise.
According to the press service of the Southern Military District (SMD), the Russian-Algerian Joint Exercise will involve about 40 units of military and special equipment, including BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, off-road vehicles, 120-mm transportable mortars "Sani", unmanned aerial vehicles, assault and army aviation of the Southern Military District.
The newest autonomous field camp APL-500 was buillt at the Tarskoye training ground of the SMD in North Ossetia for the comfortable accommodation of the participants. The camp consists of frame tents made of modern composite materials. The APL-500 is designed to accommodate 500 military personnel, one tent is designed to accommodate 16 people.
The Russian-Algerian Joint Exercise aims to increase the readiness of the command and control bodies, forces, and means to combat terrorism stated the Russian Ministry of Defence. The servicemen of Russia and Algeria will carry out tactical actions to search, detect and neutralize conventional illegal armed groups, find and destroy conventional explosive devices, and conduct radiation, chemical, and biological reconnaissance in buildings and on the ground.
