Kalashnikov Expands its AK-12 Assault Rifle Family

Kalashnikov Concern is expanding the family of AK-12 assault rifles. In particular, the AK-12SP has been developed on its own initiative. This assault rifle is a version of the AK-12, in which a complex of technical solutions has been introduced to increase the effectiveness of the assault rifle. The design of the units that make up the basis of the AK reliability remain unchanged," Kalashnikov's press service said.

"The AK-12SP rifle butt is also equipped with a light folding cheek, which makes it possible to ensure the optimal position of the shooter's head when firing with the use of optical sights," the press service added.

AK-12SP is adapted for use by both right-handers and left-handers: a double-sided fuse-translator of the fire mode is introduced into the design of the machine. "The assault rifle can also be equipped with Picatinny and M-Lok interfaces for installing sighting systems," Kalashnikov's press service said.

Currently, Kalashnikov is producing AK-12 assault rifles, modified following the results of combined arms operation. "The Concern is already producing AK-12, modified according to the results of this operation, the capacities of the enterprises are loaded for a long time," the press service summed up.

The AK-12SP assault rifle was first presented at the Army-2021 forum. Its weight (without the magazine and accessories) is 3.6 kg. The muzzle velocity is 900 m / s, the rate of fire is 600-700 rounds per minute.
