New Equipment for Armed Forces, Under Development

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation announced today that new models of equipment are being developed for the Armed Forces. The development of new models will increase the mobility of units and reduce timelines to overcome damage and obstacles, as well as improve the mechanization of excavation.

In a release published today, the Ministry announced that work is underway to create an MTU-2020 tank bridgelayer, with increased capacity that reaches 60 tons. This bridgelayer would replace the obsolete tank bridgelayers.

A universal armored engineering vehicle UBIM was developed and is undergoing state tests on the components and assemblies of the T-72BZ tank. This one will replace the IMR-3M demolition engineering vehicle and the BAT-2 track layer. The machine is equipped with a combat module to defeat manpower and lightly armored enemy vehicles.
