Eastern MD combined arms formation finishes preparation for Laros 2019 the first-ever joint Russian- Laotian exercise

Eastern MD combined arms formation, stationed in Zabaykalsky Krai, finished preparation for the Laros 2019 first-ever joint Russian-Laotian exercise.During preparation military personnel practiced conducting search operations, performed live-fire drill from the T-72B3 armament at minimum and maximum shooting ranges. Commanders improved skills in planning the use of tank units, developing non-standard tactical solutions for conducting combat training in marshy-wooded and mountainous terrain.

 

During the exercise, which will be held in three stages 10-19 December, the army of the Lao People's Democratic Republic will provide Russian military personnel with Laotian weapons and military equipment, in particular, T-72MS tanks, BRDM-2MS, PKTM machine guns, AKM assault rifles.

The Eastern MD tank units will take part in the exercise at the Ban Peng training ground near Phugut.

The exercise will contribute to the expansion of military and military-technical cooperation between the two countries, including in countering international terrorism.

In total, more than 500 servicemen of Russia and Laos will take part in the Laros 2019 first-ever Russian- Laotian exercise.
