Russian-Kazakh Military Cooperation Agreement

The Russian Minister of Defence Sergey Shoigou is on a visit to  Nur-Sultan to discuss with the military and political leadership of Kazakhstan matters of security, counterterrorism, and military-technical cooperation.

"During the official visit, it is envisaged to hold meetings with the military-political leadership of Kazakhstan to discuss issues of regional security, the state and prospects of military and military-technical cooperation, as well as the progress of the implementation of the strategic partnership program between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2019-2021," - said the Ministry in a release today.

Shoigou met with the head of the military department of Kazakhstan Nurlan Yermekbayev and they discussed improving the collective security system and countering terrorism.

"It is planned to sign an interstate Russian-Kazakh agreement on military cooperation, an agreement regulating interaction in the course of joint events, and a plan of cooperation between the defense ministries for 2021," the release said.
