On the sidelines of the International Military-Technical Forum ARMY-2020, a conference will be held on the development of a Unified Geographical Information Space in the Russian Federation and beyond its borders, said MoD.
This event It will bring together more than 100 leading experts of research and educational organisations of the Russian Ministry of Defence, military administration bodies and industrial enterprises. Participants in the event will study ways to improve the effectiveness of means, systems and complexes of automated control of troops, armaments and military equipment using the Unified Geographical Information Space.
The agenda of the event will include discussions on the procedure for creating a unified system for providing geospatial data to public authorities, expert assessment of the effectiveness of its practical application in the interests of ensuring the defence and security of the Russian Federation.
Currently, in the interests of the Ministry of Defence of Russia work is in the process for creating the Unified Geographical Information Space of the Russian Armed Forces. At the same time, the Unified Geographical Information Space is considered as the practical implementation of a single information space of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in terms of the creation and functioning of an effective system of geo-information support for geospatial information based on modern information and telecommunication tools and technologies, a single geospatial database, its information and linguistic support.
The results of the military scientific conference are planned to be applied in the course of the practical implementation of the tasks on the creation and functioning of the Unified State Examination of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as a scientific and technical reserve for the formation of the Unified State Examination in the interests of defence and security of the Russian Federation.
