Two Sukhoi Su-57 fifth-generation fighters.

At the end of 2021, two serial Su-57 fighters, built by the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Plant named after Yuri Gagarin (KnAAZ, a branch of PJSC Sukhoi Company), were handed over to the Russian Aerospace Forces – these aircraft became the third and fourth serial Su-57 built KnAAZ. According to known data, the delivery of two serial Su-57s corresponds to the planned task of KnAAZ for 2021.

Five Su-35S Fighters.

In 2021 KnAAZ was supposed to hand over the first five Su-35S Fighters in accordance with a contract on the supply of 30 Su-35S fighters in the period 2021-2024. The agreement was signed between the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and PJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) during “Army 2020” International Military-Technical Forum on August 25, 2020. According to previously published information, in 2022 KnAAZ should hand over seven Su-35S fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Six Su-34 fighter-bombers.

According to available information, JSC Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association Plant named after V.P. Chkalov (NAPO), a branch of PJSC Sukhoi Company (part of the UAC), in 2021 supplied six Su-34 fighter-bombers to the Russian Aerospace Forces, which became the first aircraft built under a new three-year contract for the construction of 24 Su-34 bombers concluded in June 2020 by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation with the UAC.

Thus, by the end of 2021, 145 Su-34 bombers were built under all contracts, including seven prototypes and pre-production models. In 2022, NAPO, will apparently have to hand over eight or ten new Su-34 bombers, two newly built aircraft have already been observed on test flights at the NAPO airfield at the end of January 2022.

Four Su-30SM2 fighters.

At the end of 2021, the Irkutsk Aircraft Plant (IAP) of PJSC Irkut Corporation (part of the UAC) produced and handed four modified Su-30SM2 fighters over to the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy. These are the first Su-30SM (Su-30SM2) aircraft built by IAZ as part of a contract for the supply of 21 fighters of this type for the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy. The agreement was concluded by the Russian Ministry of Defence with the UAC on August 25, 2020. The delivery of these aircraft marked the resumption of deliveries of Su-30SM family fighters for the Russian Armed Forces, suspended since 2018.

In total, under previous contracts from 2012 to 2018, the Russian Ministry of Defence received 116 Su-30SM fighters, 22 of which were for the Naval Aviation of the Russian Navy. Thus, the delivery of four additional fighters brings the total number of Russian Su-30SM delivered to 120, including 26 for Naval Aviation.

The name of Su-30SM2 supposes an upgrade of the fighter, the emphasis is placed on equipping the aircraft with additional aircraft armament" and "the combat capabilities of the upgraded aircraft will be significantly expanded, including through a new range of weapons. In addition, the Su-30SM2 will use only Russian-produced components." The completion of the tests of the Su-30SM 2 equipped with AL-41F-1C engines is expected only by the end of 2023.

Presumably, in 2022, IAP should hand over eight or ten Su-30SM 2 fighters to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

Two MiG-35S / MiG-35UB fighters.

In March 2021, one single-seat MiG-35S fighter, and one two-seat MiG-35UB fighter were handed over to the Ministry of Defence of Russia. These are the final two aircraft built under the contract signed in August 2018 by the Russian Ministry of Defense with the UAC (which includes JSC RSC MiG) for the supply of the first six "serial" MiG-35S and MiG-35UB fighters. The first four aircraft under this contract - three single-seat MiG-35S and a double-seat one were delivered in the first half of the year and in the summer of 2020. The construction of the aircraft was carried out at the Lukhovitsky Aircraft Plant (LAP) named after P.A. Voronin, a branch of JSC RSC MiG. All delivered aircraft are apparently used in the State Testing program.

The status of the MiG-35 program is uncertain and throughout 2021 there was almost no information about its development, as well as about contracts for serial purchases.

Two Yak-130 combat training aircraft.

According to available unofficial information, at the end of 2021, the Irkutsk Aircraft Plant (IAP) of PJSC Irkut Corporation (part of the UAC), after about a year and a half break, handed over two new-built Yak-130 combat training aircraft to the Ministry of Defence of Russia.

Apparently, these are the first two aircraft built under the contract for the supply of 25 units of the Yak-130, concluded by the UAC with the Ministry of Defence of Russia on August 25, 2020, during the “Army 2020" International Military-Technical Forum. Thus, since 2009, the Russian Ministry of Defense has received a total of 115 Yak-130 aircraft under various contracts - of which 12 of the first two series were built at JSC Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft Plant Sokol and another 103 at the Irkutsk Aircraft Plant.

Export.

In 2021 the Russian Federation exported the following military aircraft of new production:

  • Two Su-30MKI(A) fighters produced by Irkutsk Aircraft Plant of PJSC Irkut Corporation - to Algeria. These are the first aircraft under the 2019 contract for the supply of 14 additional Su-30MKI(A) fighters to Algeria;
  • Two Su-30SME fighters produced by Irkutsk Aircraft Plant of PJSC Irkut Corporation - to Myanmar. These are the first aircraft under the 2018 contract for the supply of six Su-30SME aircraft;

  • Six to Twelve Yak-130 combat training aircraft manufactured by Irkutsk Aircraft Plant of PJSC Irkut Corporation - to Vietnam. These are aircraft under the 2019 contract for the supply of 12 Yak-130 aircraft to Vietnam.
