The certificate validation will allow UAC to start delivering units manufactured by UEC Klimov to the Republic of South Korea. According to Rostec, the obtained permit means that the engine fully complies with the requirements of the state aviation regulations of the Republic of Korea, which is confirmed by the corresponding letter from the Civil Aviation Administration.

“Our engine is deservedly trusted by other countries. It is modern, high-tech, and reliable as its capabilities allow the user to work in difficult conditions. The VK-2500PS-03 certification will allow us to deepen the partnership with South Korea, as well as to start deliveries to it in the future,” said Evgeny Prodanov, the director of the VK-2500 program.

Certifications have been also completed in India, China, Brazil, and Colombia. The certificate validation in China resulted in a contract for the supply of nearly 100 VK-2500PS-03 engines to be delivered in 2021-2022. At the moment, on average, 300 engines of the VK-2500 family are annually produced, with plans to produce 500 units per year.

The VK-2500PS-03 turboshaft engine is the newest modification of the VK-2500 and can be used on Mi and Ka helicopters. Engine certification tests in the Russian Federation were successfully completed in 2016. The main design difference of the VK-2500PS-03 is the presence of a new digital control system of the FADEC type (full authority digital engine control ) - BARK-6V-7S, also developed and manufactured by United Engines Corporation-Klimov.

The overhaul and assigned resource of the engine are two times higher than that of its predecessors. VK-2500PS-03 gives helicopters fundamentally new opportunities when operating in highlands and areas with hot climates. The engine performance is provided in the air temperature range from minus 50 to +60 ºС. The stable operation of VK-2500PS-03 engines is ensured up to an altitude of 6 thousand meters.
