VR-based System for Operations in Nuclear Environment

Avtomatika Concern of Rostec, has developed the VR-based System Gipnoz (Hypnosis), a robotic equipment control system. The system is capable of performing extreme tasks in the environment of radiation, high and low temperatures and poor visibility with the use of artificial intelligence and virtual reality technologies.

"The development can be used in mining, concentration, nuclear fuel production, maintenance of nuclear power plant reactors, radiation control in irradiated nuclear fuel storages, accident response in mines without human intervention and solution of other special tasks," Rostec said.

The developed system contains a control panel, a complex of sensors, video cameras, on-board electric computers for installation on a robotic platform, a lidar, a high-speed wireless control channel, a repeater to increase the communication range.

The operator remotely controls the unmanned complex with the help of VR glasses connected to the control panel, to which information from cameras and sensors of the robot is displayed. Artificial intelligence technologies automatically detect and highlight objects that the robot works with.
