Latest Gibka-S Reconnaissance Vehicles Enter Troops in 2021

Intelligence and control vehicles of the latest Russian air defense system "Gibka-S" will begin to enter the Russian army in 2021. This was reported by the press service of the holding Roselektronika (part of Rostec). At its core, the machine is an integration of a MPADS, used in battle by infantry, and a Tiger armored vehicle.

“Already next year we will deliver an installation batch of machines to the customer,” said the head of the Vega concern (part of Roselectronics) Vyacheslav Mikheev, Zvezda writes.

The main objective of the reconnaissance vehicle is to control the operations of the units of anti-aircraft gunners and combat vehicles of the a man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS), as well as coordinate their actions and increase survivability under any conditions of a combat situation.

The Gibka-S complex operates in a single tactical command and control system and provides reconnaissance, tracking and firing at air targets in motion. It can destroy aircrafts at low altitudes and a speed of 400 m/sec. It can also fight airplanes, helicopters and drones. The missiles can destroy troops and engineering fortifications.

One Gibka-S platoon contains up to six combat vehicles with onboard missile launchers, plus reconnaissance and weapons control vehicles are stationed in the ranks as part of the group command.
