DRDO Test Fires a Laser-Guided ATGM

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India has successfully tested an indigenously developed laser-guided anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) from MBT Arjun.

The tested weapon has a range of up to 4 km and is expected to boost the fire-power capability of the Indian Army.

"The missile employs a tandem heat warhead to defeat explosive reactive armour protected armoured vehicles. It has been developed with multiple-platform launch capability and is currently undergoing technical evaluation trials from gun of MBT Arjun," the Economic Times of India quoted an official.

MBT Arjun is a third generation main battle tank developed by India's DRDO for the Indian Army. The Arjun entered service with the Indian Army in 2004
