The Italian government is considering approving of a new arms deal with Egypt estimated at €18 billion. If completed, Egypt would receive frigates, jets including Eurofighter Typhoons and a military satellite.
According to the Italian newspaper La Republica, the Italian government is set up to soon approve the MEGA defense deal with Egypt that includes:
6 Frigates including 2x confirmed FREMM Bergamini
24 M-346 trainer jets
24 Eurofighter Typhoon jets
20 Falaj II OPV
1 Military Satellite
The total value of the contracts will reach €16-18 billion, and Leonardo's share will not be less than 10.5 - 12.5 billion euros. Of course, the final deal value will not be known until after the contracts are signed.
Leonardo has scored at least 45% of the total value of the contract, being the main provider of electronic and fire and arms management systems.
