Armoured Drills in Chelyabinsk

Over 3,000 servicemen of the tank division of the Central Military District have mobilised to the training ground in the Chelyabinsk region to conduct drills, said the Press Service of the Central Military District Monday.

More than 3000 servicemen of the Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District (CMD) went to the interspecific training ground in the Chelyabinsk Region to conduct training exercises and drive military equipment. The drills will last until the end of the week.

During the practical exercise, the Urals tank operators will practice a high-speed approach march to the battle area and defense maneuvering with live firing. The crews will also be tasked with repelling enemy counterattacks during both day and night, as supported by motor rifle and artillery units,

According to the press service of SMD, the drills include more than over 3,000 servicemen, as well as modern T-72B3M tanks, Medved artillery tractors, 2A65 Msta-B towed howitzers, BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems, Sani mortars, 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled howitzers, and special operations vehicles.

The Vitebsk-Novgorod tank division was formed on 1 December 2016. It includes three tank, motorized rifle, and self-propelled artillery regiments, an anti-aircraft missile battalion, reconnaissance and engineer battalions, units and subunits of combat, logistics, and technical support.
