Major Military Exercise in Eastern Russia

A large-scale exercise with more than 12,000 servicemen deployed in the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Amur Region has started in the Eastern Military District of Russia (EMD) , said the press service of EMD on Monday.

This event is the final stage of the operational, mobilisation, and combat training of the military district troops in the winter training period.

The commanders of the combined-arms armies stationed in Transbaikalia and the Amur Regions will demonstrate in practice their knowledge and skills in the use of groupings of troops to ensure military security in the East of Russia.

During the exercise, the district headquarters commission will check the level of training of officers of the military command and control bodies of combined-arms formations, as well as the field training of the group of forces deployed within the framework of the exercise.

At several training ranges in Transbaikalia, several practical stages have been planned for practicing the actions of troops in defense and offensive, including at night.

In total, more than 12 thousand people, up to 3 thousand units of weapons and military equipment, about 60 aircraft and helicopters, more than 10 unmanned aerial vehicles take part in the exercise in Transbaikalia.

The exercise is being conducted in accordance with the plan for training the command staff and military command and control bodies of the Air Defense Forces and will last until the end of this week.
