Geospatial Technology and National Security at ARMY Forum

Year after year, the scientific and business program of the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2021" year to year becomes richer and more diverse. On the sidelines of the Forum this year, Marketing and Communications Agency "Defense Media" and the "New Defence Order. Strategy" journal are organizing a round table under the title "Geospatial Technology and National Security".

The event will take place ahead of the international conference “Geospatial Technologies. Global Trends," which will take place on 25-26 November in Moscow.

Participants of the round table "Geospatial Technology and National Security" will discuss the key opportunities provided by remote sensing, GIS, and GNSS for solving problems in this area. These include determining the location of objects and targets, assessing challenges and threats, situational analysis in real-time, creating the possibility of using the latest high-precision weapons, supporting the planning and conduction of operations - including: analyzing military activity and assessing damage; determining optimal routes of movement; border control; verification of compliance with the terms of international agreements even within the framework of arms control; monitoring of drug trafficking and illegal arms trade; monitoring of humanitarian disasters; monitoring the flows of migrants and refugee camps; etc.

A special part of the discussion will be devoted to tackling challenges and risks associated with the use of such technologies, as well as information security issues when working with geospatial data.

Nowadays, obtaining the most accurate information in record time is of particular importance. Digitalization and new methods of processing data arrays open up great prospects for the development of data collection and interpretation about the terrain, people and objects in space. Today, it is difficult to imagine an industry in which these tools would not find an application; geospatial technology has a fundamentally a dual purpose, despite the fact that the field of defence and security is the leading consumer of its services in this market.

"Geospatial Technology and National Security" roundtable discussion will be held on 25 August at the Patriot Exhibition and Convention Center. We invite you to take part in the discussion - we are waiting for you in conference hall 1110 from 10:00 to 14:00.

Prior registration is required.

See you at Army 2021!
