The naval version was based on developments in the Derivatsiya-PVO anti-aircraft artillery system, said the general director of the Central Research Institute Georgy Zakamennykh.

"Using the scientific and technical reserve of the Derivatsiya-PVO anti-aircraft artillery system R&D project, we have created a shipborne version of the 57-mm artillery module. Navy specialists positively assess the possibility of its use on ships and boats of small displacement," TASS quoted Zakamennykh.

AU-220M includes a 57 mm cannon and supersonic anti-tank missiles. The module can be installed on the platforms "Armata", "Kurganets-25" and "Boomerang", as well as on ships of small displacement and boats.

It has a circular rotation and a firing range of up to 14.5 kilometres with a maximum rate of fire of 80 rounds per minute. The ammunition load includes 57 mm rounds: multifunctional with a remote-contact fuse, armour-piercing and controlled.
