"Our foreign partners, who supply ready-made systems for our aircraft, informed our aircraft manufacturers, publicly or secretly, that they will not continue relations with our aircraft manufacturers either under existing contracts or under new contracts," said Shpak.

He said that even though no new sanctions were declared, they informed the Russian side that they would no longer supply systems. "Thus, they are trying to simply stop our civil aircraft industry," Shpak added.

Unitl this moment, there has been no official comment from PJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) on this matter.

Shpak's statement came at the Microelectronics-2020 Forum. He noted that these restrictions will not only affect the aviation industry alone, but also microelectronics. Therefore, he added, Russia should reduce its dependance on foreign imports in the field of microelectronics, calling it "a matter of security and sovereignty."

According to Shpak, Russia has already started this. For example, they have already carried out significant part of import substitution in spacecraft with Roscosmos. So far, more than 80% of the electronic component of basis in spacecraft are Russian development.

Interfax recalls the xample of the MC-21 project. Previously, the project of the MC-21 medium-range aircraft faced problems due to the refusal of Western partners to continue cooperation. The US sanctions against the CJSC AeroKomposit company resulted in the termination of the import of composite materials for the creation of this aircraft.

Later, the Rosatom plant in the Special economic zone «Alabuga» was chosen as a new supplier of these components. Nevertheless, the start of mass production of the MC-21 was once again postponed, according to the latest official data, it is expected to be completed at the end of 2021.

In addition to the MC-21 project, Rostec enterprises are working on the creation of regional Il-114-300 aircraft and long-range Il-96-400M aircraft. In Russia, regional aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 and Czech L-410 localized at the Ural Civil Aviation Plant are being serially produced.
