Russian-Emirati Cooperation Continues to Grow

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov and UAE Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Abdullah Ben Zayed Al Nahyan held a meeting in Moscow on 14 December. They discussed relations between Russian and the United Arab Emirates, among other issues.

The meeting took place at the House of the Government of the Russian Federation as part of the visit of the Emirates delegation to Moscow.

"H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation [MOFAIC], and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Yury Borisov, discussed the bilateral relations and strategic partnership between the UAE and Russian Federation as well as ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries across all fields," said the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a statement.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the depth and width of ties between the UAE and Russia, affirming that the UAE is looking forward to developing cooperation while benefiting from the steadily growing strategic partnership between the two countries, added the Emirati MOFAIC.

Borisov and Al Nahyan dwelled on the issues of military-technical cooperation and cooperation in the space sector

"On December 2, 2020, the Russian Soyuz launch vehicle successfully launched another Emirati satellite, Ain As-Sakr, into orbit. Russia is ready to continue to assist the UAE in this high-tech industry," said Borisov.

According to the statement issued by the Russian Government, the Vice Prime Minister noted the progressive trend of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and the UAE, even in the context of a pandemic, as well as the active personal participation that the UAE Foreign Minister as co-chairman takes in the work of the Russian-Emirates intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.
