On 9 December 2020, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, a training was held on the management of strategic offensive forces, reported the official TV channel of the Russian Ministry of defense on Wednesday.

The training involved ground, naval, and air forces and assets that make up Russia's Strategic Nuclear Forces. Practical actions of Strategic Missile Forces (RSVN RF) launchers, strategic missile carriers of long-range aviation of the Aerospace Forces, and a nuclear missile submarine of the Northern Fleet were exercised.

Tu-160 and Tu-95MS aircraft were launched from the Engels airfield. The training strikes fell on the Kura and Pemboy training grounds.
